The non-profit organization Coffee Excellence Alliance (ACE) has begun a preliminary COE trial in the town of Takengon in Aceh, Indonesia.

ACE, in cooperation with the Indonesian Coffee Association (SCAI) and the local Aceh Tenga government, has received more than 40 farmers for primary selection.

This week's jury of coffee professionals from Australia, China, Sumatra, Colombia, the Netherlands, the United States, Singapore and South Korea will spend a week reviewing the submitted batches.

The final lot will be auctioned at Takengon's public auction this weekend.

Many farmers entering the coffee have violated the well-known stereotype of the wet shelling process.

National and international judges have been tasting natural honey and fully washed craft varieties such as Abyssinia, Gayo 1 Magi Gayo 2 Magi P88 Magi S795, as well as other well-known varieties such as Ateng Jeluk,Tim Tim and Bor Bor.

The results of the international jury will be announced on March 21.

In 2020, SCAI and ACE hope to bring the COE project to Indonesia. ACE said Indonesia was committed to becoming a "challenging" and "very promising" new country that would have an impact on COE's portfolio.

COE is one of the most prestigious awards for coffee. It affects thousands of farmers and sells quality coffee at discounted prices at online auctions around the world.
