Coffee is a small evergreen tree of Rubiaceae, native to Africa. Small and medium grains of coffee are mainly cultivated as beverage plants. The small grain coffee cultivated in Yunnan, China traditionally refers to the mixed population of the Bobang variety and the Tibika variety.
Small-grain coffee is suitable for growing in the mountains at an altitude of 800 to 1800 meters. If the altitude is too high, it will taste sour, and if it is too low, it will taste bitter. Small grains of coffee are mostly planted in dry and hot valleys about 1100 meters above sea level, so they are moderately sour, rich and mellow. There is a unique environment suitable for the growth of small seed coffee in many areas of Yunnan, and the quality of small seed coffee is excellent.
At present, most of the plants in Yunnan are Katim, which is a hybrid of Kaddura and Robsta, a branch of the bourbon line in the Arabica species. The reason for planting this variety is that Katim has the Robusta gene, so it is better than a single old variety in disease resistance, and the yield is good. Compared with the delicate old variety, the disease resistance is poor and the yield is low. Farmers naturally prefer to plant Katim. So now there has been a Katim wind in Yunnan.
The output and disease resistance of iron pickups are problems. Coffee cool techs in Central and South America has been making remarkable progress in cultivating new varieties and inventing new treatments. Therefore, it is more scientific to distinguish between Central and South American varieties by country.
Brazil, which leads in production, is dominated by bourbon, bourbon variety Kaddura and the new world of bourbon and tin pickup hybrid, Kaduai.
Colombia is based on the introduction of Cadura from Brazil and its own variety of the same name, Colombia. It's a hybrid of Kaddura and Katimo.
Although there are iron pickups in Guatemala, the main force is still Poponkadu Ekadura. Still in a small amount of yellow bourbon, Pacamara species.
Costa Rica bourbon and iron pickup are even rarer, and the country is dominated by Kaddura Kaduai, the New World. And there are many variants in this country, the most famous of which is Vera Saatchi.
