Arabica coffee

Arabica coffee is one of the two coffee plants widely cultivated all over the world. (the other is C. canephora, often called Robusta.) Arabica coffee is the main variety in Central America, South America and most of East Africa, and is considered to be the best variety of coffee. Arabica species are made up of many varieties or varieties, and these different types can reproduce sexually with each other.

To be considered a unique Arabica variety and to be included in this catalogue, the variety must meet the following criteria (according to the International Union for the Protection of New Plant varieties (UPOV)):

The changes are consistent. It can be accurately described by a set of features, and all such plants look the same.

Change is different. According to the above characteristics, it is different from other varieties.

The variety is stable. This variety can reproduce while keeping its characteristics unchanged in the next generation.

The most common varieties meet the above criteria. However, some people are not. For example, according to this definition, Catimor and Sarchimor are not distinct variants. Some of the coffees included in this catalog-t5175, T5296, Anacafe 14 and pacamara---do not meet the above definition because they are neither uniform nor stable. They are listed here because they are well known to farmers and are widely cultivated in the area, but it is important to know that they lack unity and stability and therefore do not meet the variety definitions listed here.
