Mixteca Alta del Pacifico is an organic coffee cooperative located in the Mixteca area of Oaxaca and is home to the indigenous peoples of Mixteca and Zapoteca.

The cooperative is headquartered in the town of Santa Maria Yusiti and its members include 172 producers. Most producers own 1 to 3 hectares of land, between 9 and 1700 meters above sea level.

Producers in the area have adopted shade planting methods, using local trees to cover their coffee trees. They also attach importance to the long tradition of manual picking in the region to ensure that only ripe coffee beans are picked.

Each farm has its own wet mill, a hand desizing machine and a small cement fermentor, and a sun-dried terrace, either next to the house or on the roof. All members comply with organic standards: coffee is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers and methods and materials that have little impact on the environment are used.

Mixteca recently set up a cupping laboratory, and Q raters in the United States also spent time teaching QC lab technicians to sample and bake. We are pleased to work with this team to produce truly impressive coffee that stands out for its rich taste (perfect espresso) and sweet fruity aromas.

Glass tone: bright, juicy acidity, creamy body. Flower scent, milk chocolate, caramel, lemon, grape, cherry.
