Our friend Luz Marina Trujillo (Luz Marina Trujillo), who grew up in a coffee producer's family, talked happily about playing with coffee beans, not dolls, in her childhood. Today, she produces one of the best coffee in Costa Rica at the Santa Elena estate in the Tarrazu Heights, Costa Rica's most famous coffee-growing region. Luz Marina's coffee is grown in the shade, and fully ripe cherries are picked by hand and screened in her own mill. Then, on the terrace of the Finca Santa Elena restaurant, the cherries are carefully starched, washed and slowly dried to give full play to their acidity and depth. In the "reposo" phase, her coffee is roasted and rested in parchment for at least 30 days before being ground and transported to Atlas.

Like many of our favorite growers, Luz Marina takes a comprehensive and sustainable approach, minimizing manual input and using a closed-loop fertilization system to compost discarded coffee pulp with red tails. Her water treatment system meets the high environmental standards of the Costa Rican government and keeps the rivers flowing through the manor clean. She provides excellent housing and health care for seasonal workers, as well as state-of-the-art drinking water filtration systems.

Tarrazu Coffee is known for its crispness, cleanliness and brightness. Luz Marina Coffee offers a classic silhouette with a touch of syrup and sweetness, as well as an elegant finish. Luz Marina was one of the first property owners in Costa Rica to mass-produce natural "Miel" coffee, adding marshmallows and butterscotches to the complex washing contours. In recent years, Luz Marina has also been producing all-natural craft coffee and has separated many products from the market segment of the large St. Elena property, allowing an exciting manufacturer to provide a dynamic list of products.
