A brief introduction to Qianjie-Columbia Snow Mountain area

Unlike the "high acidity" and "fruit tonality" of other Colombian producing areas, the high alcohol thickness, low acidity, dark chocolate and nut flavor of the Snow Mountain area make it unique among many producing areas. for this unique producing area customers do not have to pay more added value than other producing areas, and the high performance-to-price ratio makes the Xueshan producing area widely praised.

The Snow Mountain area, as its name implies, is a snow mountain, called Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Spanish, and its full name translated into Chinese should be Mount Santa Marta (also translated into the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Santa Marta). It spans the three provinces of Colombia-Cesar, Guajira and Magdalena, and the highest peak is Columbus at 5700m above sea level (also known as Simon Bol í var). It is the highest elevation in Colombia. As the highest coastal mountain in the world, the Snow Mountain region is located at the northern tip of Colombia, about 11 degrees north latitude and west near the Pacific Ocean. It is a 30-minute drive from the snow mountains to the pleasant Caribbean coast.

This is one of the few areas in Colombia where coffee is grown by aborigines. There are now more than 30, 000 indigenous people living on this land, and they are made up of four different indigenous communities-Kogui, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo. For these aborigines, this snowy mountain is the heart of the world, the umbilical cord that combines origin with the present, spirit and matter.

At present, there are nearly 15000 coffee farmers in the snow-capped mountain areas, most of whom are aborigines. It is precisely because of their awe of the snow-capped mountains that coffee production here coexists in harmony with environmental protection. In this area, growing coffee emphasizes protecting soil and water sources and increasing the sustainability and diversity of local ecosystems. Their concept of life, environmentally friendly mode of production and mode of work have enabled their estate to obtain organic and fair trade and other certification in support of sustainable development.

Snow-capped mountains are not planted on snow-capped mountains. I'm afraid no plants can survive on top of snow-capped mountains. In contrast, coffee in snow-capped mountain areas is generally grown between 900m and 1600 meters above sea level, with an average annual temperature of about 24 ℃ and an average annual precipitation of about 2200mm. The altitude of the snow-capped mountain area is very large, so it has different climates from the cold zone to the tropics, the unique microclimate of the mountain area, the fertile soil nourished by the meltwater of the snow-capped mountains, and abundant rainfall have created environmental conditions that are very favorable for growing coffee.

Most of the coffee here is grown on slopes, and some of the land has a slope of up to 80 degrees. Under shade planting, coffee trees grow under various fruit trees such as acacia, walnut, avocado and so on. Shade planting allows the slow growth of coffee here to fully absorb the essence of nature in the snow-capped mountains and accumulate rich coffee fruit aromas and full sweetness.

Knowledge expansion: Colombia is located in northwestern South America, bordered by the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, northwest to Panama, east to Venezuela, southeast to Brazil, south to Peru and southwest to Guadore.
