Front Street-introduction to Pink Bourbon Coffee
Bourbon coffee was originally grown in Bourbon, now known as Reunion, at about 650km in the famous eastern part of Madagascar.
Bourbon species, along with Typical, is the oldest fine coffee variety in existence.
Looking back to the origin, in fact, bourbon and iron pickup belong to the same vein; the tin card, which was first transplanted to Bourbon Island, has undergone genetic mutations after several generations of natural reproduction, and the vitality, disease resistance and appearance and flavor of the tree species have been greatly improved compared with the original species. Later, this new variety was named after the island, that is, bourbon species.
Bourbon coffee is derived from the natural variation of the Tippica coffee variety, which is also a long-standing variety, and both varieties belong to the Arabica variety. Generally speaking, bourbon coffee mainly changes from green fruit to ripe bright red fruit, which is what we have heard of (red bourbon). The fruit is relatively short and round, also known as round bourbon, with high density of pulp and seeds, high sweetness and bright acidity.
But in addition to red bourbon, there are actually yellow bourbon (Yellow Bourbon) and rare orange bourbon (orange Bourbon) and rare pink bourbon (Pink Bourbon).
Pink bourbon (Pink Bounborn) is a natural hybrid of yellow bourbon and red bourbon, in which yellow bourbon and red bourbon coffee belong to the "dominant character" expressed by "dominant gene" and have strong reproductive stability, while the new hybrid variety pink bourbon belongs to the "recessive character" expressed by "recessive gene". The offspring produced by cross reproduction are easy to separate characters.
Moreover, coffee trees rely on pollen for sexual reproduction, and other dominant tree species are very easy to pollinate bourbon, which seriously affects the flowering and fruiting of the next season. This is the main reason why yellow bourbon and red bourbon are more common and pink bourbon is less seen.
Palate: sweet orange, sweet sugar cane, cherry tomatoes, and pleasant juicy taste.
The variety of pink bourbon was first discovered in Huila Palestine, Colombia, and is mainly grown in the Huila region of Colombia.
