South Pacific Island Coffee | what are the characteristics of Vanuatu Coffee

The Republic of Vanuatu is a South Pacific island country located about 1100 miles east of northern Australia. It covers about 80 islands and stretches for 1300 kilometers. Vanuatu is located near New Guinea, southeast of Solomon Islands, west of Fiji, and northeast of New Caledonia. As of the 2016 census, about 270000 people lived there.
Vanuatu lies in the shadow of the still active Yasul volcano, which provides ash emissions that produce fertile soil in the region. These nutrient-rich volcanic soils create conditions for the cultivation of coffee. Plenty of rain and sunshine also make it a good place to grow coffee.
Tana Coffee grows on the island of Tana in Vanuatu. Pick coffee cherries by hand at the highest maturity. Use natural fermentation to process coffee on the same day. Then dry the coffee beans. No chemical fertilizers are used.
History of coffee cultivation in Vanuatu
Arabica coffee was first grown in Vanuatu in 1852 using Port Resolution, including the Arabica Typica plant in Jamaica and bourbon on the island of Reunion.
