Rayloy Coffee beans from Kuanji Farm, New Caledonia, France
KOUANDJI ESTATE Leroy coffee beans on the French island of New Caledonia, the price of this coffee is also relatively expensive, and now it is much higher than Blue Mountain No.1.
This coffee has a limited annual production and is very rare.
Looks weird too ~
The beans are small.
I am so lucky to have this coffee.
There is very little Chinese information about this coffee ~
I don't know how much baking is better ~
In the end, the baking is not deep ~
Stop baking about 1 minute after the first explosion ~
Even though the beans are small.
When grinding beans with a hand grinder, you can feel obvious resistance ~
This means that the beans are very hard ~
It feels purer to drink ~
There is obvious acidity ~(I think under the same roasting degree, the acidity of this coffee is higher than that of Ye Jia Xue Fei)
The others didn't leave a deep impression on me ~
The price of this coffee is also relatively expensive, and now it is much higher than Blue Mountain No.1 ~
Maybe it's because it's rare ~
The following information was reproduced on the Coffee Home Forum by Liuyallan:
New Caledonia in Melanesia is an oasis in the South Pacific Ocean. It was a thriving, beautiful and magnificent land. Whether it's deserted beaches or extravagant casinos and nightclubs, you'll find them there. Of course, if you like, you can find something else...
It is a most well-preserved and precious secret. One of the rarest, strangest and most expensive coffees, New Caledonia coffee. Only the world's most discerning coffee connoisseurs know it.
In 1860, missionary brothers Marist brought the first coffee seeds to Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia.
In 1880, pioneers from Reunion Island (Bourbon Island) also brought coffee seeds. These pioneers brought three species: Arabica, Liberica, and Coffea laurina. Eventually, Arabica and Laurina were selected by these pioneers for commercial cultivation.
In 1910 (Coffea canephora) Robusta was introduced to New Caledonia specifically from Java to combat leaf rust. Coffee canephora is resistant to leaf rust.
More than 30 years ago, coffee cultivation occupied an important place in New Caledonia's agriculture. But other industries proved more profitable, and the labour-intensive coffee plantations were slowly abandoned. Since then, coffee production in New Caledonia has declined year by year until it has almost completely disappeared.
KOUANDJI Manor Coffee is located at the foot of Kouandji Mountain, 25 km southeast of Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia. Kouandji is a native Melanesian script. Translated into French, it means "Là d'oîvient le soleil," which means the place where the sun rises. This is a New Caledonian indigenous coffee company whose goal is to revive coffee farming in New Caledonia. Pierre cochard, the company's head, is a charismatic coffee connoisseur who only a few years ago began experimenting with growing coffee on a six-hectare plot. However, not long ago, his coffee "Relroy" won a very authoritative French quality award.
KOUANDJI estate planted "Rayloy" species, also known as "Bourbon tip body". She also has a nickname called "President." Because the French presidential palace Elysee Palace will regularly purchase for former French President Chirac (the current president has gone to play with women?) Enjoy. Unfortunately, her production was too low. Even the president had to ration it.
Relroy is a rare and unique coffee variety found only in New Caledonia, and is a natural variant of Reunion (Bourbon) coffee from around 1860. Another theory is that she is a natural hybrid of Melanesian coffee and Arabica tin. She has a short tree, narrow leaves, drought tolerance and is very susceptible to disease. So production is low.
There are some unique traits about Rayloy (Bourbon Pointy) that make her a unique breed.
1. The caffeine content of Reroy is only 50 percent of that of regular Arabica coffee. Common Arabica coffee has about 1.2% caffeine, while Relroy has only 0.6%.
2. Beans are sharp at both ends.
3. The yield of Reroy is much lower than that of other coffee varieties.
4, less weight loss after roasting, common coffee varieties can lose 20% weight after roasting, while the maximum weight loss ratio of Relroy is only 16%-17%.
5. Leroy's coffee trees are very drought tolerant.
New Caledonia coffee is one of the most expensive coffees in the world, not only because of its high quality and scarcity, but also because of its high production costs. New Caledonia is French territory, so labor costs are higher than in other coffee-producing countries.
