Nestl é purchases 4C certified Yunnan coffee beans
After several years of training and preparation, since the beginning of the 2014-15 procurement season, all coffee beans purchased by Nestl é in Yunnan have passed 4C certification.
4C is a widely accepted management rule in the world, which involves the sustainable development of all aspects of the supply chain, such as coffee cultivation, production, processing and marketing. More and more international coffee buyers require that the coffee they buy must meet the requirements of 4C or equivalent. In the coffee bean purchasing season of 2012-2013, more than 1 of the coffee beans purchased by Nestl é Pu'er purchasing station have met the 4C standard and are mainly exported to the international market. At the same time, in order to encourage farmers to produce high-quality coffee in a sustainable way, Nestl é has set up a "4C incentive to create shared value Fund" since 2013. In the 2014-2015 purchasing season, Nestl é fulfilled its previous commitment to purchase 4C certified coffee beans at 100%.
Nestle's coffee development project in Yunnan won the United Nations World Business and Development Award 2012 and was awarded the United Nations Global Compact China Best practices 2012 in the same year.
