The theoretical basis for this study is that caffeine can control muscle pain by blocking the activity of adenosine. Adenosine is a part of the substance released by the body when it produces an injurious inflammatory response, which activates pain receptors in human cells.
Caffeine can be used as a relief for muscle soreness and is safe for physical exercisers, scientists say in the American Journal of Sports Nutrition and Metabolism.
