Coffee common sense caffeine can improve Alzheimer's disease
Recently, a joint team of Japanese Saitama Medical University and American researchers confirmed that caffeine can improve the symptoms of dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease. at the same time, it can also inhibit the production of abnormal proteins accumulated in the brain of patients.
According to reports, the research team took about 18-month-old rats with Alzheimer's disease as subjects and fed them caffeine continuously for a month. The daily amount of caffeine was converted to humans, which is equivalent to drinking five cups of coffee a day. Then eight functional tests, such as cognition and exercise, were used to test the status of the rats. The results showed that rats fed with caffeine made fewer mistakes than those without caffeine in the maze experiment, and even if the experimental site was changed, they arrived at their destination earlier, and the results were similar to those of healthy rats. In addition, caffeine-fed rats showed a decrease in the deposition of abnormal proteins in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex, which is responsible for memory, suggesting that caffeine can also inhibit the activity of enzymes that produce abnormal proteins.
The researchers said that this experiment confirmed the assumption inferred by people through medical investigations in the past, although the subjects were rats, but as a method to inhibit the development of the disease, it also has positive significance for the clinical use of human beings in the future.
