According to Odditycentral, a cafe in New South Wales, Australia has launched a new measure of charging: the degree to which customers use polite language when ordering determines the price of coffee. The more polite the customer is, the cheaper the coffee will be.
The owner of the cafe, Seven Mile Beach Kiosk, put up a unique billboard in front of the shop, which read: "it costs $5 to order'a cup of coffee', $4.50 to say 'please give me a cup of coffee' and $4 for 'good morning, please give me a cup of coffee'."
The measure has been implemented for only two months, but it has achieved remarkable results. Store owner Kev Chilver and his wife say they are trying to bring back attention to politeness and encourage customers to use polite language. The idea was once seen by their employees in another store.
