Last Updated: 2025/08/21, Aftertheharvest coffee bean processing: coffee pulp must be processed immediately after picking to prevent unsightly meat fermentation and rancidity. Coffee beans are processed in two ways, wet and dry.

Drying method

The drying method is also called "natural law". Spread the coffee syrup to dry in the sun. In the plantation, 50 square meters of coffee pulp per hectare is not beautiful, or put it in a special dryer to dry. Put the dried coffee pulp into two rollers (cylinder) to break up the coffee beans, and then sieve the type of assembly to break up the coffee beans with the inner skin. Finally, according to the size of the shape of coffee beans, similar beans are screened, packaged and put on the market. In the final screening process, round beans (perla/caracolito) will be screened out and sold individually.

Wet processing

Wet-processed coffee beans are also known as "washed beans". Wash the novel coffee pulp, remove the meat, soak it in water for 36 hours to ferment the coffee beans, and still guarantee that the peel on the beans will be peeled off. After a rough cleaning, the coffee beans are dried in the sun or in a dryer to remove the last layer of film, so that the coffee beans become "naked" coffee beans. Then filter and classify the coffee beans according to their size.

It is packed in a unit weight of 60 kilograms per pack. Generally speaking, the quality of coffee beans processed by wet method is better than that processed by drying method.

The process of screening coffee beans, using manual labor when picking coffee pulp as described above, or mechanical screening, can select high-quality coffee beans without mixing immature or poor quality beans. Countries that grow high-quality coffee varieties have long had advanced equipment to screen the perfect coffee beans.
