Rose summer: rise to fame

In 2004, there was a participating bean in the BestofPanama coffee competition, which impressed the judges from the first round of the cup test and won the championship of that year without any doubt. It was revealed that the dark horse came from a private farm called HaciendaLaEsmeralda in the Boquete region of Panama, a single breed of Geisha on the farm.

Next, Geisha won a number of boutique coffee competitions in succession, such as the roasters recommended by the American Fine Coffee Association, the Rainforest Coffee Competition, and so on. In the following years, Geisha continued to win the championship and constantly refreshed its brilliant resume, becoming a trend in the boutique coffee world. Geisha frequently dominates all the major events, so that some events even begin to appear, the ranking of "non-rosy summer coffee".

The original glory of Geisha Coffee, in the name of EsmeraldaSpecial, belongs to the HaciendaLaEsmeralda Farm of Panama, located in the foothills of the Baru volcano, about 1450-1800m above sea level. Today, HaciendaLaEsmeralda Farm holds its own auction every year.

Rose Summer: the Life History of the Legend

Rosa Coffee, which can be written as CoffeaArabicaVer.Geisha, has now created an unattainable new height for almost all coffee varieties.

The rose variety originated in Ethiopia. In 1931, scientists discovered ta near the town of Gesha in southwestern Ethiopia, named after the place where it was discovered. Now it is often called Geisha in coffee. Then, for experimental purposes, a small amount of planting was made in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. In the 1950s, Rosa Coffee traveled across the Atlantic from Tanzania to Costa Rica and became the subject of the CATIE Coffee Research Center. In 1963, Rosa was brought to Panama.

The rose variety has beautiful narrow leaves, fruits and raw beans are also slightly narrower than other Arabica coffee, sensitive to the growing environment, excellent flavor and less harvest when planted at high altitude.

Until 2004 rose to fame, Rosa Coffee has been in a state of obscurity, the magical flavor of ta has not been discovered. In the experimental planting stage, the quality of the coffee was average, but now it is speculated that the low altitude and low harvest failed to win the favor of the researchers. Later, although it has been growing in Costa Rica and Panama, and most of the fruit harvested is mixed with other varieties, the special flavor of rose summer coffee has not been discovered.

For more than a decade since 2004, Geisha coffee has come from not only Esmeralda Manor in Panama, but also products labeled Geisha in Central America and Colombia. Is this Geisha or the legendary Geisha?
