Sumatran Mandheling boutique single coffee-Sumatra mantenin
Boutique coffee (specialty coffee) is also called "specialty coffee" or "select coffee". It refers to coffee made from a small number of raw beans with excellent taste grown in an ideal geographical environment. Depending on the special soil and climatic conditions in which they grow, they have outstanding flavor. After strict selection and classification, this kind of coffee can be regarded as a selection of coffee beans because of its hard texture, rich taste and excellent flavor.
The famous producers of Asian coffee are the islands of the Malay Archipelago: Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (formerly known as Borneo in Borneo), Sulawesi and New Guinea.
The history of coffee cultivation in Sumatra began in the 18th century, and the origin of the name Mantenin itself is very ethnic.
There is a story that explains the origin of "Mantenin" as the name of coffee: during World War II, when the Japanese occupied Indonesia, some Japanese soldiers went to a cafe run by the Mantenin to drink coffee. They thought the coffee provided by the owner was very good, so they asked the owner about the name of the coffee, and the owner mistakenly thought they were asking themselves who they were. He replied that he was a manning, so the Japanese soldiers thought the coffee was called manning. It is said that after leaving the army, one of the Japanese thought that the coffee they drank in Indonesia was of great commercial value, and he wanted to introduce it to the Japanese market, so he contacted an Indonesian businessman to buy "Manning" coffee from him. The shrewd Indonesian businessman, Pwani, did not reject the deal because there was no coffee named Mantenin, but shipped 15 tons of coffee from Sumatra to Japan. Before that, the high-quality and delicious Indonesian coffee has never been exported to any country, and since then, the name "Manning" has spread all over the world.
However, the above story is from the Sumatran version, and the coffee name "Java Manning" is already listed in the 1903 catalogue of Sears Wholesale Grocery. Therefore, the name Manning was used as a trade name for coffee as early as before the 1950s.
Sumatra manning has two famous names, they are Sumatra manning DP 1 (Sumatra Mandheling DP Grade 1) and collection Sumatra mantenin (Aged Sumatra Mandheling).
No one knows what DP in Sumatra Mantenin DP I means, but it is certain that of all the coffee in Indonesia, the DP grade is the most expensive; the Sumatran manning is called a "classic" because the desperate coffee is stored in the cellar for three years before it is exported. But classic coffee is by no means old coffee.
Based on some characteristics, the Sumatra manning is very suitable for mixing with other coffees to make espresso (Espresso).
