Yejassefi's coffee trees were planted by European monks (a bit like Belgian monks growing wheat to brew beer) and were later transferred to farmers or cooperatives. In Ethiopia's dictionary, "Yega" refers to "settling down" and "Sheffield" refers to wetlands. The unique geographical conditions here make the production conditions and flavor of coffee extremely prominent. "Yejashafi" has become synonymous with Ethiopian boutique coffee, and coffee farmers in this country are also proud to produce coffee with Yega Sheffield flavor. This has become the most famous coffee producing area in Africa.
