How did he become a world champion barista and write a world-class coffee Bible?
You like the low-key feeling of coffee
Every detail is so right.
James Hoffman is the coffee god of London, England. he represented Britain in the World draw Competition for two consecutive years (2006 and 2007) and won honorary awards such as the 2007 World Barista Competition, the 2008 British Cup Test Competition and the 2011 British hand Cup Championship.
But you can't believe that this divine barista used to be just a small salesman. And it is because of this job that he has an inextricable bond with coffee.
At that time, Hoffman was selling coffee machines in a department store on Oxford Street, mainly to deliver free coffee to passers-by. This job made him very interested in coffee and fell in love with it ever since.
For the next three years, he concentrated on developing coffee. In order to taste the taste, he drinks 40 cups of coffee a day, sometimes more than a hundred cups.
At the 2007 World baristas Competition (WBC, the equivalent of the coffee industry Olympic Games) held in Tokyo, the "novice" who had just been exposed to coffee for three years won the world championship that year.

After the race, Hoffman struck while the iron was hot and co-founded a coffee roasting company called Square Mile Coffee Roasters with friends. Due to the title of World Coffee Master, his company is also known as the "Champion Bakery".
Then, in cooperation with Nuova Simonelli, the VA388 Black Hawk coffee machine was designed and launched.
When Hoffman was specializing in coffee, he saw the book The World Atlas of Wine (Map of Red Wine of the World). Thinking that there were very few books about coffee at that time, he came up with a book about the introduction to coffee in the world.
So it took him two years to write a World Coffee Map. The tutorials on the place of production, variety, altitude, and flavor of coffee that have been hand-brewed are included in the book.
Hoffman knows very well that coffee is the product of natural soil, and coffee from different places has different styles.
In order to learn more about coffee, he traveled to 29 countries and regions around the world and visited many coffee plantations. Footprints throughout Colombia, El Salvador, Costa Rica and other places.
In addition to the coffee producing areas, Hoffman also likes to visit cafes everywhere. He said the strangest cup of coffee he had ever had was the Amber Cafe in Ginza, Tokyo.
This is how he described the coffee he drank:
I chose their oldest coffee, which was produced in Colombia in 1954. It tastes a little fruity, like ash and mildew, but it's not moldy. It's very strange.
"it smells a little musty."
Xiaodoguang saw these words, and the whole body cells were already resisting.

However, Hoffman's efforts will pay off after all. The book eventually topped the list of coffee books on Amazon in the United States, Britain, France and other countries.
In the book, Hoffman talks about coffee in the tone of an old friend. The book also contains hundreds of full-color pictures, maps and illustrations, which greatly increase your interest in reading.
Last month, Hoffman came to China to sign with the World Coffee Map. In other words, the Chinese version of the book has finally been published.

Live slowly as a literary youth in Hong Kong, experience the human feelings in Sheung Wan Lane.
The impression of Hong Kong is always crowded with people and filled with a fast-paced sense of urbanization. If you are tired of the scenic spots after visiting the mall and want to find a quiet corner to rest, you might as well go into the alley, feel the humanity and comfort on the ground, and sit leisurely in the cafe for a warm afternoon. (photo: instagram@mrgumbatron) and Sheung Wan itself is a special feature.
