It also sells coffee and flowers. How is this place in front of the Shanghai Himalayan gallery any different?

The "Vision Hill", a white building made up of 500 scaffolding, has stood outside Shanghai's Himalayan gallery for nearly a year. This behemoth, unlike most buildings that strictly separate people from outdoor space, looks extremely transparent. There are 60 green plants floating inside and at the top of the space, and people can "climb" to the high platform through ladders. Observe the world on the ground from different perspectives.

This futuristic building was designed by Japanese architect Seiosuke Fujimoto for the Himalayan gallery "Shanghai Seeds" project. According to the original plan, after "Shanghai seed" ends in July this year, "Vision Hill" will also be dismantled. Now, however, things have changed a little.

Last week, a shop called Shanshui opened in a space surrounded by transparent glass panels at the bottom of the building. Standing outside, the flowers, trees and white goods on the glass shelves are vaguely visible through the glass windows.

It was a team named "Landscape" that created this space. Three of the six members were former employees of Shenhuo, a consumer experience space that brings together design boutiques, bookstores and cafes. They characterized the debut work as "an experience space that integrates design and art". What they want to do is "a store that is more different in terms of sales and experience, and more in line with modern consumption habits."

Li Ang, who is in charge of marketing planning on the landscape team, told www.qdaily.com that continuing to use this space to do something different is also the idea of Vision Energy, a sponsor of the Himalayan gallery and Shanghai Seeds. After all, the building costs nearly 10 million yuan, and after testing, it can still stand safely for at least six months. So, under the "planning" of the three parties, there is now this experience store.

The whole store is divided into three parts: a cafe, a floral experience space, and a retail space that combines art derivatives and designer works. If you pay a little attention, you can find a lot of low-key but interesting designs, such as the umbrella lights hanging from the glass ceiling, which are made of pulp, the tables and chairs in the cafe are made, and the cups and saucers for drinking coffee are designed by Yasukuni Kurokawa.

However, unlike most stores that sell design goods, the various items placed on the shelves are affordable to the public. The coffee cups designed by Akira Kurokawa are priced at less than 100 yuan, while handmade leather shoes and cement earrings from different designers and brands can be bought at a price of about 500 yuan.

"the value of design and art lies not only in viewing and collecting, but also in being touched and practical," Leon told Curiosity Daily (www.qdaily.com). They want to experience all the content in the store, to connect with people and into their daily lives, rather than being in a state that is out of reach.

On the other hand, the "experience" that the store can provide is mainly reflected in the two permanent units, the cafe and the flower space.

Unlike the usual cafe, people can't get a menu and ask the barista to brew a latte. It all starts with knowing the coffee beans. People can choose their favorite coffee beans according to the origin and taste of several coffee beans, and ask the baristas to make a cup of coffee according to their personal preferences (such as ice drops, cold extract, etc.). You will probably be advised not to add milk, because part of the "experience" is to taste the original taste of coffee beans.

In the flower space, people cannot buy a single rose, and all the flowers are packaged and sold according to the categories needed for flower arrangement. People can ask the florist for advice on flower arrangement, such as what kind of flower works are suitable for display in the living room and bedroom, and then you can choose the necessary materials on the spot and learn flower arrangement skills for free.

Over the next six months, the experience will be extended to activities where people can learn to make plant specimens, learn stories about coffee beans and watch open-air movies, Leon told www.qdaily.com. With the change of the season, at present, the main color space is white, and the theme color will be changed, and the retail goods and decorations in the space will also change.

Li Ang said that the current store needs to take advantage of the flow of people from the Himalayan gallery to some extent, but they hope that more people will come because of the unique experience provided by the store itself.
