The area, named after the Ruvuma River, is located at the southernmost tip of Tanzania. The coffee growing area surrounds the Mbingo region, which is widely believed to have the potential to produce high-quality coffee beans despite the lack of economic access in the past.

Coffee in Tanzania is called kahawa kahawa, although it is not as famous as Kenya in the coffee world, but its annual production is almost equal to Kenya. The main mode of sales is through bidding and direct sales. The earliest Arabica seeds were introduced from Réunion French Reunion Island and planted in Bayamoyo and Mogoro. In 1893, beans planted on the slopes of Gili Mazaro became the most successful coffee beans. Other Arabica species were introduced in the 1950s from neighbouring Burundi to western Tanzania and are now mainly grown at high altitudes. However, local wild coffee species are still emerging. The most recent discovery is Coffea kihansiensis in the Udzungwa mountains. Both Arabica, which is washed after harvest in July and December, and Robusta, which is native to the region and sun treated after harvest in April and November, are mainly produced in: Mara, Jili Mazaro, Ruvuma, Mbeya, Kigoma, Arusha, Manyara, Bukoba and Kagera But Arabica beans account for nearly 75 percent of Tanzania's annual production, and Tanzania produces 50,000 tons of coffee a year.

Agriculture is Tanzania's livelihood industry. About 90% of the country's manpower is engaged in agriculture, and agriculture accounts for 85% of exports. The main crops include coffee, cotton, tobacco, cashew nuts, tea and sisal. Today, an estimated 450,000 small farmers--some 4.5 million people--earn their living from coffee cultivation, producing nearly 90 per cent of the country's green beans, while cooperatives and larger plantations supply the remaining 10 per cent.

Blackburn Estate Clouds of August, owned by Michael Born on a German estate where coffee has been grown for more than 20 years, Michael fell in love with the place when he first visited East Africa in 1971, moved to Tanzania for a long time in 1983 and reorganized his parents 'farm, by which time the coffee trees at Blackburn Estate were almost submerged by other trees. Wild animals roam freely here, free of fences-lions, buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs and a variety of other species that roam the coffee trees and forests at night.

Coffee is grown at an altitude of approximately 1,760 m- 1,950 m. Only 16%(about 187 acres) of the estate is actually grown, and the extensive shade of native trees also provides good shade from the sun, so new coffee growing areas have recently been established on the east and south sides of the estate, which will mainly provide special hand-selected small batches of beans in the future. Blackcrystal Manor has a well-managed washing plant, water comes from the mountain springs of Oldeani (local language means bamboo shoots mountain), and all coffee is dried on elevated trellises (so-called African elevated beds).

This is a coarse fiber made from agave leaves, similar to jute bags, which are banned by the local government to protect Tanzania's sisal industry, and jute bags made of sisal do not have the distinctive earthy smell of jute bags.
