Emilio Marin has been growing coffee with his son Julio for more than a decade. Their farm, Tierra Fertil, is located in Frailes de Deamparado, Tarrazu, Costa Rica's famous coffee producing area, at an altitude of more than 1600 meters. The breeze from the Pacific Ocean blows through the valley and breeds the most beautiful coffee in the world.
Only 150 bags of fertile soil are harvested each year, all grown organically, and then sent to the Lomas al Rio washing plant, the first organic certified washing plant in Costa Rica, founded and operated by Grace Mena. Grace has been making coffee for more than 20 years and is a representative of Costa Rica's "Micro-Mill Revolution" and the first to experiment with honey treatment and solarization. She actively promotes microlot, traceability, organic processing of coffee and assists farmers in adopting sustainable farming methods. She is the godmother of Costa Rica's fine coffee industry.
This fertile soil is what Lomas al Rio excels at, sun exposure, fruit aroma, honey and chocolate flavor, even apricot jam, grown and handled organically, rare!
