Red Cherry Project (OCR, OperationCherry Red) is a quality plan carried out by Dutch merchant Trabocca in Ethiopia. It was first launched in 2007, mainly through the cooperatives of YCFCU (Yega Coffee Cooperative Union) to go deep into specific farmers to pick 100% red cherries and subsidize cooperatives to upgrade sun scaffolding / equipment / roads. These exquisite production micro-batches need to go through rigorous cup test quality control, only for more than 88 batches to buy, and marked as the "Red Cherry Project (OCR)" in just a few years, not only make Trabocca become a world-famous bean merchant, but also promote and win the popularity of many cooperatives in the YCFCU system, of course, but also let many consumers really realize the beauty of Ethiopian coffee! Up to now, the cooperation between Trabocca and YCFCU system has gradually decreased, and the Red Cherry project has turned to work with more small cooperatives and processing plants, extending to Sidamo and even other producing areas.
This organic tanning Bansha is another representative of the quality coffee of the Red Cherry Project! From the Sidama Zone district (an administrative district close to the north of Gedeo Zone, which produces Yegashafi), a place called Bensa, while the whole Sidama district has a total of ten towns (Woreda), such as Dale,Yirgalem,Aleta Wondo... In addition to the Red Cherry Program, since Trading Organic, the parent company of Trabocca, is also the most powerful organic food manufacturer in Europe, they have also coached this group of farmers in Bansha Town to obtain organic certification!
