Many times I don't have a scheduled itinerary, maybe there are a few key points, but it may be because I hear something interesting during the trip or information provided by other travelers, and then come up with it on the spur of the moment, which is the pleasure of self-help travel.

I didn't plan to go to Guangzhou in April. I just wanted to travel from Xiamen, Fujian, via Shenzhen (or by boat) to Zhuhai and then to Macao, but just a few days before departure, I came across a piece of information about the bookstore, which aroused my great interest, because the bookstore was not only the first 24-hour bookstore in Guangzhou, but also offered couchsurfing, so I sent an mail application, but I didn't get a reply when I left. Anyway, I still want to see that even without couchsurfing, being open at least 24 hours means I have a place to spend the night.

I (unfortunately) arrived in Guangzhou at more than two o'clock in the morning (I have a chance to talk about it after the strange journey), plus (sadly) I forgot to write down the house number. I only remember that the bookstore was close to the "Shipaiqiao" subway station on Sports East Road. But no matter how many times I walked back and forth in that area, I couldn't find it. It was more than three o'clock in the morning. I almost wanted to give up. Fortunately, there was a 24-hour McDonald's at the intersection of sports east and west. It doesn't seem to be "living on the street," but Maybe I'm lucky. I saw a young man at McDonald's and casually asked him if he knew there was a 24-hour bookstore nearby, and sure enough, he didn't know either. But when I finished ordering, he told me that he had searched for the address on his cell phone. Oh, my God! I was so moved. I didn't expect my careless question, but he was very warm-hearted. He asked me if I was a so-called backpacker. And asked me if I could go to the bookstore with me? Because he's curious, too. Why not! The bookstore is something that everyone can go to. Besides, he doesn't look like a "bad guy". It should be okay to take a walk together. So after dinner, we went to 1200 Bookstore.

1200 Bookstore is located on the second floor, and the entrance on the first floor is small, so it is really easy to ignore at night. As soon as I entered the door, I saw a girl sitting there asleep. I was surprised and thought, is this the concierge? But she's not.

The scale was smaller than I expected, but I felt warm, of course, because I was almost exhausted at that time, so I felt as if I had encountered an oasis in the desert, which was more lively than I expected, almost full of seats. Sure enough, there are a lot of night owls in the big city. There was only one employee behind the coffee counter in the whole bookstore in the evening. I asked the other party about couchsurfing. As expected, someone had already checked in, but the staff kindly suggested that I should find a seat first. Anyway, I can stay in the bookstore for 24 hours.

I turned around the bookstore and felt that the bookstore was actually more like a salon or the size of a coffee shop. as for the books, most of them are in Chinese (edition). Only some foreign language books look like decorations placed high on the shelf at the crossbar. As for the majority of the customers in the store are still young people in their 20s or 30s (only they have the energy to stay up late), many people read books quietly and feel as if they are in the library. there are also many people who just sit there constantly sliding their mobile phones (obviously they can't sleep but don't know where to go), and of course there are many "Dream Chou" (after all, it's already three or four o'clock).

The bookstore is small and feels more like a salon or a coffee shop (in fact, the bookstore does combine with a coffee shop. The seating area in the bookstore has a "free area" and a "ordering area". The sofa area in the picture is provided to diners, and the floor made up of desks and chairs is a "free reading area". )

It's kind of like a library reading area.

At the end of the bookstore, you can see the street view in the window sofa area, where people can enjoy the whole day under the sun of showers.

I looked through some books in the bookstore, but there were still many books translated into Chinese in foreign languages, and some best-selling books in Taiwan could also be found in the 1200 Bookstore. Although I was really tired, I decided to pick up a book and begin to pass the time. Because the sofa area was full and had to sit on a board chair until someone finally left. (the sofa area is not couchsurfing's room.)

I casually picked up a book about what I had seen, heard and views written by an exchange student in Taiwan, but it turned out to be the work of Liu Eryi, the shop owner. Boss Liu, who used to be an exchange student at Tunghai University in Taiwan, is now a coffee shop, bookstore owner, writer and architect. As for the 24-hour bookstore, it has been "influenced" by Eslite in Taiwan. So he still opened a bookstore in Guangzhou for 24 hours knowing that he might not make money. Because of the experience of living in other places, even though the bookstore still keeps a free couchsurfing for backpackers from other places, it seems that most of the people who come here for the night are locals.

The separate space has a single bed, sofa and long desk, which I took after the guests left during the day. The space inside is a deluxe room for backpackers, which is better than I expected. The completely private space after the doors and windows are closed at night is much better than many GH.

However, if you want to take a shower, you have to be outside in the toilet, but at least there is a hot water shower. I met and chatted with the store manager during the day just after dawn and asked if I could use a shower. The manager immediately agreed to ask me if I needed bath products, which touched me so much. The staff in the bookstore were really kind.

This one is completely free, even if you don't buy a book or order a meal. Anyone (regardless of nationality) can apply. The check-in time is in the afternoon and check out is about 10: 00 in the morning (please ask the bookstore for details). In addition, the bookstore actually has a clean-up at 7: 00 in the morning and 9: 00 in the morning, so I use that space to bathe and freshen up, because it's not easy to occupy the bathroom for too long.

You can apply through mail, but it is very popular that there is only one room after all.
