Hangzhou boutique cafe Peu à Peu gradually Coffee: an alternative name, "Peu à Peu" Cafe

Reason for recommendation

"Peu à Peu" is a common French phrase that translates into Chinese, meaning gradually and gradually. French food, French and French are rare in Hangzhou, let alone how unusual it is to name a cafe in French. BTW, the owner of this store is not French, but was built by two post-80s girls in Hangzhou. It has been exactly six years since they were exposed to coffee and baking skills.

Two post-80s managers (Dan Dan and Ding Ding) finally introduced their cafe "Peu à Peu" to market in 2016 after traveling to various countries because of coffee, dessert, art and travel. The address is adjacent to the Imperial Street of the Southern Song Dynasty in the West Lake Scenic spot. In the Chengnan Pavilion with an inch of land, the coffee shop with 200 square feet of space to create a variety of activity venues is unique and worth exploring.

Crossing Kaiyuan Road, a street with the cafe, is a pedestrian street loved by old Hangzhou and foreign tourists, Zhongshan Middle Road. "Peu à Peu" is just around the corner. Due to the principle of cultural relic building protection, the signboard of the store is not prominent, and you will miss it if you are not careful. Pushing the door in, a green garden with ingenuity was introduced. Several wooden stools were matched with cement-gray coffee tables, and white stones everywhere needed to step on cement bricks.

The two girls were deeply influenced by Japanese culture and wanted to design the store in Japanese style with a concise and exquisite feeling. In accordance with local conditions, consider the bright layout of the store, as well as the suggestions of the designer, and eventually derive a fresh environment with French elegance and European style.

There are not many seats in the guest area on the first floor, Dan Dan said with a smile: "although I like the large transparent space, but do not want too many noisy and idle people to enter, the picture is a clean." Such a large space, a garden, three or two long tables, several wooden chairs, a lazy sofa foot constitute all the space on the first floor.

The bar area? classic collocation, showing the taste of inheritance in the retro.

Choose the Italian la marzocco Linea PB double head, the appearance of retro small, coupled with one of the hosts used to work at Starbucks, more or less "hot mom" plot. The bean grinder is Mazzer Robur, which is characterized by fast and stable grinding of beans. The combination of the two is also recognized as a classic match.

The second floor area is favored by theme activities, spoilers in advance.

Due to the trial operation, the second floor is temporarily closed to the public, but the stair handrails and plumbing colors from the first floor to the second floor space reveal a hint of warmth and interest. It is reported that it will be left as an activity "ready for use". If I tell you, the decoration design on the layout of the pipe spotlights, shank line painting. In that case, photography exhibitions, audio and video salons, coffee sharing and fun baking will all be carried out one by one after the official opening.

Nicole & Peu à Peu (Q & A)

Q: French Peu à Peu sounds interesting, but it seems a little difficult to use as a store name.

A: yes. Therefore, when creating a LOGO, communicate with the designer and add a single word "gradually", that is, the gradual and gradual meaning of the Chinese context after translation. The moral is consistent with our two ideas of opening a store, hoping that a store can improve itself one by one through the accumulation of time. No one is perfect, no matter how powerful the coffee master is, as long as he opens his own shop, there are always all kinds of imperfect and imperfect defects, not to mention us ordinary people. Therefore, in the case that we are not fully prepared, we will leave a trial operation for a long time to test ourselves.

Q: how do you plan to manage the activity "waiting" area on the second floor in the future?

A: at present, there are only the two of us in the whole store, both the boss and the staff. I'm afraid I can't take care of it because I have limited energy, and there are still some tables, chairs and household furnishings, so I'd rather be empty first. When we have the right partner to join us, we will use it to rent the main event space and enrich the single individual sales model. There is also an embedded baking kitchen on the second floor, which will be open to order customized meals in the future.

Q: both of you have experience working in a cafe. Do you have any creative ways to run your own store?

A: I dare not say it with originality. I just hope to develop in one direction: to accept the reservation system. After the official opening, we will have a light meal, including salad, soup, staple food, coffee or soft drink. Different from the variety of staple foods and snacks in other cafes, I hope it is relatively simple, and I don't want to waste it selling at a low price for inventory or declining quality, so I can only limit the quantity, prepare some every day, and sell out. Relatively soon is the launch of the British afternoon tea series, also will not give public consumers too many choices, limited to 3-4 groups, also sold out.
