What is the G1, G2, G3, G4 grading method?
Indonesian coffee beans are classified according to the proportion of defective beans. Indonesian beans are mainly divided into six grades, namely G1~G6. Ethiopia also uses this method, with the highest grades of washed beans G1 and G2, and those of sun-dried beans G1 and G3.
What does that mean? As follows:
Washing: Grade-1;Grade-2 (G1 > G2)
Sun: Grade-1 and Grade-3~Grade-5 (G1 > G3 > G4 > G5)
A few points to pay attention to:
A) Gr-1 is available both in washing and in the sun, provided that there is a "zero" defect and Premium Cup. Whether it's washing or tanning, Gr-1 rates the boutique of the boutique or Cup of Excellence coffee.
B) the lowest level of sun-tanned Shifei and Sidamo is Gr-4.
C) beans of the same level, such as Lim Gr-2, have both good and bad, depending on the sorting level and input of the exporter.
D) to meet the requirements of existing "zero" defects, Gr-1 beans (including those washed in water or in the sun) are extremely rare because of the high cost of processing and very few suppliers will do them.
Zhang Xiang thinks that Gr1's Sumatran manning coffee has excellent consistency and mellowness. no wonder it was the highest quality coffee in the coffee world before the emergence of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.
Indonesian coffee beans are usually named after islands, and Sumatra Mandheling, Java and Ankola are regarded as one of the best coffee in Indonesia.
Mantenin in Sumatra is planted at an altitude of 750 li 1500 meters above sea level. It belongs to the rare Arabica coffee bean in Indonesia. It has a strong taste, high mellow, rich and lively dynamic, and is very lubricated. Manning Coffee is perhaps the most mellow coffee in the world, with a leaping slight acid mixed with the richest aroma, so that you can easily experience the lively factor in the mild fragrance. In addition, there is a faint aroma of soil, which is also described as the aroma of herbs.
Although Mantenin in Sumatra and Arabica in Java belong to the same Arabica species, the alcohol thickness, syrup taste and other characteristics of the former are in contrast to the relative peace of Java Arabica coffee. Mantenin is concentrated in the northern Jiangsu producing area, and there is a producing area called "Lindong", which is highly appraised because of its altitude, soil and farming conditions. Coupled with the fact that the Sumatran coffee industry is mostly private and free, it is a challenge to have access to high-quality and stable supply of coffee.
Among the many small producing areas in northern Jiangsu, incense likes the "Aceh" producing area best. The volcanic soil enriches the Mantenin of Aceh on the basis of syrup flavor. Because of its intense and rich taste and lingering aftertaste.
Aceh, the northernmost corner of Sumatra, is a fascinating and complex place. Aceh is not an area visited by ordinary people because of its long-term political instability. The Gayo region is located in Aceh province, north of Sumatra, and coffee is grown in the slopes around the town of Takegon and Lake Tawar in the Gayo region. The average planting height in the production area is between 1110 and 1300 meters. Coffee is planted by shade farmers under shade trees, showing a peculiar flavor, low depth and lively and full-bodied flavor.
Under this semi-wet and semi-dry peeling and wet washing method, the coffee farm machine removes the peel and pulp of the red cherry fruit. There is still a lot of mucus on the coffee beans, and then stored in a fermentation tank for about a day (24 hours). The attached mucus is easily washed away with water. Then when the sun-drying reaches about 30% to 35% water content, the coffee bean shell is removed and it can be sold on the market. When the shell of the coffee bean is removed in this semi-wet and semi-dry state, the bean itself reveals a unique dark blue, which reduces the acidity and increases the alcohol thickness (body) of the coffee, making this unique Indonesian coffee.
Manning Coffee-Features
Manning coffee has a very strong flavor, fragrant, bitter, mellow, with a little sweetness. Most coffee lovers drink on their own, but it is also an indispensable variety for blending coffee.
As the Mantenin coffee beans themselves do not have sour characteristics, so the general special blending methods are based on Mantenin coffee beans, in the long-term heat preservation or preparation of iced coffee, there is no unpleasant sour taste. After baking, the beans are very large, with special aromas of nuts, pine, caramel and mellow taste.
