Oaklands Estate is a large estate with a variety of lots for sale each season, each with its own unique taste. This 2015 large AA bean comes in a grain bag at the mill and is absolutely fresh. The estate grows only SL-28 and SL-34 grape varieties, two of Kenya's wanted grape varieties known for Kenya's famous classic "raisin","red wine" and "blackberry" characteristics.

This is a fairly forgiving baked bean because you can use a variety of baking curves and end temperatures and still get a good result. Although it does make a good French roast, I usually keep that to myself. What I tried was just a city barbecue, but not a full city barbecue. This is a coffee with many complex layers of flavor. It is smoother and sweeter than many Kenyan coffees, and you may notice a variety of flavors including grape jam, blackberry, red wine and citrus. This is a fine and wonderful Kenyan coffee.

Oaklands Estate is another premium property operated by SOCFINAF, a Thika / Ruiru based company with a large portfolio of coffee and other agricultural products in Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria (), Cote d'Ivoire and Liberia. Our other premium peaberry, Ruera, is another estate in the portfolio that includes coffee for winning the World Barista Championship (WBC, James Hoffman, 2007, Gethumbwini with Socfinaf).

Our limited edition Oaklands Estate Peaberry comes from Thika and a farm of less than 400 hectares (Ruera Estate is slightly larger, covering 442 hectares). Like Ruera PB, it consists of hybrid bourbon grape varieties with similar sweetness, slightly chocolate and blackcurrant. Espresso will be tried in a few days, but as the cup cools, it will have a lovely lemon flavor.

Kenya Coffee Auckland Estate

This Kenyan coffee is wine and sour, bright but clean, balanced with grapefruit and raspberry flavors. The Sika region is located northeast of Nairobi and this coffee is wet processed and dried. Beans are assigned AA grades based on their sieve size, AA usually being the largest bean. Keep in mind that AA grade is only one of many factors that determine high quality Kenyan coffee.
