This area produces several reputable Malawian coffees. Close to the Songwe River, it is also the natural border between Malawi and Tanzania to the north. This area is also home to the very large Misuku Hills co-operative.

This area is located in the north, near Lake Malawi in the north of Nyika National Park. Many producers are located here.

NORTH VIPHYA

This area covers part of the North Viphya plateau and is separated from the Nkhata Bay Highlands by the Lizunkhumi River Valley.

Coffee taste

Malawian coffee is mostly sweet and pure, but it is rarely as fruity and complex as coffee from other East African regions.
