Kenya borders Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, Ethiopia and Sudan to the north, and the Indian Ocean to the southeast. The coastline is 500 km long.
terrain
The terrain is dominated by plateaus, only in the southeast coast has a wide plain of about 200 kilometers. Mount Kenya's Batian Peak, 5199 meters above sea level, is Africa's second highest peak. The Great Rift Valley divides the plateau into east and west, mountains in the east and fertile plains rich in crops in the west. There are many lakes in the Great Rift Valley of East Africa, such as Lake Turkana and Lake Victoria. The main rivers are Tana River and Sabaki River.
climate
Kenya's climate is dominated by tropical savanna climate, high ground temperature and low humid heat. The annual precipitation decreases gradually from the southeast coastal plain to the northern inland plateau, and the annual average precipitation decreases from 1500 mm to 200 mm from southwest to northeast. The climate is hot and humid in coastal areas and dry in inland areas. Sunlight is abundant all year round, and sometimes there will be strong cooling in the evening or early morning. February and March are the hottest months of the year, July and August are the coldest, and April and June are the long rainy season.
history
Kenya is one of the cradles of mankind, and human skull fossils about 2.5 million years ago have been unearthed in Kenya. In the 7th century AD, some commercial cities were formed along the southeast coast, and Arabs began to do business and settle here. In the sixteenth century, Portugal colonists occupied the coastal zone. In 1890, Britain and Germany divided up East Africa, Kenya was assigned to Britain, the British government in 1895 declared willing to its "East Africa protectorate", 1920 into its colony. In March 1960, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) and the Kenya African Democratic Union were established. In February 1962, the Constitutional Convention in London decided to form a coalition government from the above two parties. In May 1963, a general election was held and the Kenyan League won. An autonomous government was established on June 1 of the same year, and independence was declared on December 12. The Republic of Kenya was founded on December 12, 1964, and remained within the Commonwealth, with Jomo Kenyatta as its first president. Kenyatta died in 1978 and Daniel Arap Moi succeeded him as president for 24 years.
economic
Kenya is one of the countries with a better economic foundation in sub-Saharan Africa. A "mixed economy" system dominated by the private sector and coexisting in various economic forms will be implemented, with the private sector accounting for 70 percent of the overall economy. Agriculture, service industry and industry are the three pillars of the national economy. Tea, coffee and flowers are the three major foreign exchange earning projects in agriculture. Tourism is relatively developed and is one of the main foreign exchange earning industries. Industry is relatively developed in East Africa, and daily necessities are basically self-sufficient.
