The Oromo people of Guji regard their area as the ancestral cradle of Oromo culture. The rituals, rituals, and legends that emerged in the Jada age group system were still widely practiced among the residents of Guji. In addition to this system, coffee cultivation has ancient roots in Guji culture-the two are inseparable.
Samuel Degelo, a producer of washed Guji (TOH lot # 28), is proud of this tradition. He was born and grew up in the Bishandimo Coffee Community in Guji. His parents respect coffee very much. Samuel learned how to grow coffee in the Bishan Dimo area from an early age. Like the children of many small coffee farmers, Samuel helped his parents on the farm and learned the craft.
Samuel is a well-educated young man. In addition to being a coffee farmer, he is also a teacher at Danbi Uddo Primary School. Because of his academic background and desire to learn more forever, he can easily understand new concepts and implement innovative coffee cultivation methods-such as composting with organic materials. The combination of teaching and agriculture makes Samuel unique in Bishan Dimo. They called him a teacher, Mr. Samuel.
As one of the model farmers of Testi Trading Plc. Samuel is one of Ethiopia's best specialty coffee exporters, with financial support for composting, training and picking. Testud invests in key people like Samuel to inspire other growers.
