Brazil has 26 states, 17 of which produce coffee, but seven of them produce the most, accounting for 98% of the country's total production. Four states, Parana, Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and EspiritoSanto, account for 80% of the total, while Minas Gerais produces the most, accounting for 30%.
Unlike other countries where coffee is grown in hills and mountains, most Brazilian coffee is grown on plains or plateaus, flat terrain suitable for mechanized operations.
Brazilian coffee is mainly Arabica, accounting for about 80% of the total production, and the remaining 20% is Robusta. According to the official website of Brazilian Fine Coffee, there are as many as 28 varieties planted, among which Bourbon (including yellow bourbon, red bourbon, Pingdou Santos), New World, Kaduai, Tibika and Katim are mainly planted.
