Costa Rica is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, as the country's name means in Spanish: a fertile coast.
The coffee beans produced at its high latitudes are famous all over the world.
It is very popular because of its mild taste, high acidity, aroma and rich texture.
Central Valley Central Valley
Central Valley (Central Valley) is one of the eight major producing areas in Costa Rica, with an elevation of 1200-1600 meters. The superior microclimate and two volcanic fertile soil make the beans in this area have superior characteristics.
Moderate rainfall, an average annual temperature of 19 ℃, coupled with high altitude, so the bean hard aroma, smooth, high acidity, full-bodied, rich flavor.
Fire Phoenix Manor
Fenghuang, a manor located on the hillside of the volcano, was the first producer of honey processing and sun-drying coffee in Central and South America. Not only is the soil fertile here, the manor owner also pays great attention to the concept of environmental protection, through natural fertilizer control and pruning and other technologies, so that the coffee bean itself has a high hardness and rich hierarchical characteristics.
The most important feature of Fenghuang Manor coffee beans is their amazing sweetness, which became famous when they took part in the boutique coffee competition in 2009. During the harvest season, the sugar content of the fruit is measured by the sugar meter (Brix meter), which is often equipped by the wine industry, and the best time and treatment are determined according to the Brix sugar content. Only those with more than 20% sweetness will be exposed to the sun. The Brix value of general fruit is 14 for apple, 12 for lemon and 18 for passion fruit, but the coffee cherry of Fenghuang can reach 21 / 22%.
Fire Phoenix Manor has another major feature of Costa Rica is that 95% of the beans belong to SHB (superhard bean) extremely hard beans, which is the local measure of the highest quality of raw coffee beans. SHB coffee is usually full of grains, clear flavor, bright acidity and ideal consistency. The strong flavor makes the tail rhyme reverberate in the throat for a long time, which is unforgettable. At the same time, the growing environment above 1500 meters above sea level also makes this black rose different from others.
The treatment of black roses is quite time-consuming. First, the harvested fruits are placed on the elevated shed for direct sun drying, and then moved into the plastic greenhouse for slow drying. During this period, a large amount of natural sweetness will be developed from raw beans. Different from the conventional sun treatment, it is not flipped many times during the drying process, which makes the fruity taste more obvious.
Fire Phoenix series, mainly Cumbres del Poas, which is located on the hillside of the volcano, not only has fertile soil, but also the owner of the manor takes good care of the environment. Although it is not organic, it is confirmed to be a natural farming method. In addition, through the technology of natural fertilizer control and pruning, coffee beans themselves have the characteristics of high hardness and rich layering. Deep sun, is to let the coffee fruit after the initial drying, moved to the room to slowly do fermentation control, get rich wine flavor, but also with a lively texture of red wine. The manor attaches great importance to the concept of environmental protection, and uses the production and use of earthworm farming (worm composting) organic compost, so that the planting process is completely free of the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
