Qianjie-introduction of three major varieties of coffee
Arabica (Arabica)
Arabica's raw beans are small and oval in appearance, and the back is more smooth and complete. The main producing areas are Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Brazil, Central and South America and other countries, also known as small fruit coffee beans.
The Mantenin Coffee, Blue Mountain Coffee and Brazilian Coffee we usually hear are all Arabica coffees. because of their high value, Arabica beans account for nearly 70% of the world's output.
However, Arabica beans have a better flavor and higher grades, and the price is usually more expensive than Robusta beans, even two to three times more expensive, and the caffeine content is lower, at 0.9%-1.2%. It also contains more fat and sugar than Robusta, so this kind of bean has a sweet taste, fragrance and sour taste, high quality, and is loved by more people.
According to the growing environment, water volume, location and soil of beans, each kind of beans will have different colors and flavors, which is why there are Blue Mountain Coffee, Golden Manning, Ethiopian Coffee beans and so on. According to the flavor and taste of the beans, they also have their own suitable baking temperature and brewing skills, and the barista can become a barista. It is because they know the taste and taste of each kind of coffee bean, cook according to different suitability, and give full play to the color of the bean itself.
Robusta (Robusta)
Robusta's shape is shorter and tends to be round, which is not as smooth as Arabica. Robusta is mainly produced in Africa, Vietnam, Indonesia, West Asia and other places. Robusta is usually mixed with Arabica to reduce the price of coffee powder, but not just because Robusta is cheaper, so it is mixed with Robusta, some are added to enhance the flavor of coffee powder, because Robusta's milk is more abundant, so some people prefer Robusta to Arabica.
Robusta has strong vitality, strong ability to adapt to the environment, and is easy to cultivate. It is usually planted below 800 meters above sea level, which is less afraid of pests, bad climate and other factors than its Arabica, and does not need to take care of it. It also has a way to grow in the wild, and generally harvesting with machines is more labor-saving and time-saving.
Most of the varieties of Robusta are not as fragrant as Arabica, the caffeine content is between 1.6% and 2.4%, the fat and sugar content is lower than Arabica, and the taste is bitter, but it doesn't mean that its grade and level is worse than Arabica. Good Robusta can improve the taste and flavor of coffee, and some of the better ones are even more expensive than Arabica. Many of the beans grown by Robusta are used as instant coffee or coffee bags, usually not freshly brewed coffee powder.
Liberia (Liberica)
Its fruit is relatively large, which can be more than twice the size of Arabica beans. It is mainly produced in Liberia in Africa. Because its economic value is not high and its taste is not as good as the first two, it is mainly the coffee varieties that people in northern Europe are drinking, and fewer people are growing them.
Knowledge: "Arabica" is not synonymous with good coffee, even if it is Arabica, there are hierarchical differences.
