DOMESO is operated by the Surafel Birhanu family and currently employs 243 coffee farmers. DOMESO receives fully ripe coffee cherries and grades and removes the pulp. After the pulp is removed, the beans are fermented for 36-48 hours and washed clean. The wet beans with parchment will be placed on a raised drying bed and kept for 2-3 hours, which takes 10-12 days until the moisture content of the coffee beans is reduced to 11.5%. Finally, the processed coffee beans will be shipped to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and packaged for sale.
