Qianjie-introduction to the characteristics of Yunnan Coffee

Yunnan coffee was introduced and planted by French missionaries in 1902, sowing the first batch of Yunnan coffee, which has a history of more than 100 years. In a short period of a century, the coffee industry has ups and downs, high quality makes Yunnan small-grain coffee famous and rich, attracting farmers to grow on a large scale.

The successful commercial coffee varieties in the world are mainly Arabica and Robusta. At present, Yunnan coffee mostly refers to the fine category under the hybrid Arabica species-Kadim / Catimor. Compared with another Liberian species, Arabica has smaller leaves, which is probably why Katim, as a branch of Arabica, is called small-grain coffee in Chinese.

Yunnan coffee varieties

Arabica is grown in Yunnan, and the varieties of coffee are mainly iron pickup and bourbon, which are ancient and classic high-quality coffee varieties, which inherit Arabica's good flavor genes. Then, in 1991, the Katim variety, a variety of Arabica species, was introduced from Kenya. In fact, Katim is a hybrid coffee variety, which is cultivated to improve disease resistance and yield.

Katim (catimor)

Yunnan coffee is also known as small-grain coffee, while Katim variety is also known as small-grain coffee. It is developed by the International Coffee Rust Research Center in Portugal, using Caturra19/IXHDT832/l (HW26) and Caturra19/IXHDT832/2 (H. 6) A general term for hybrids bred by several varieties. It has been planted in most coffee-producing countries, and in order to obtain further breeding and adaptive variety research, the Institute has cultivated many different generations of Catimor hybrids and Can-mor derived species.

Most of them show good botanical characteristics and have high resistance to coffee rust race coffee varieties, and some of them are only used as breeding materials for coffee varieties. Among the coffee varieties cultivated in Yunnan, Katim is the main variety, with a large planting scale and area. In terms of taste, Katim's flavor is relatively neutral, not sour, not bitter, pure fragrant but not bitter, fragrant but not strong.

It's all about dissemination and sharing.
