Known as "Land of Thousand Hills" and the biographical film "Land of Gorillas in the Mist", Rwanda, with an area less than half the size of Scotland and a population of more than 3 million, is a small landlocked country in East Africa with hilly terrain, fertile land and ancient bourbon species, and quality coffee beans can be found everywhere in Rwanda. Coffee is believed to be introduced to Luanda by German missionaries in 1904. Coffee is the only income-earning crop for rural farmers. Coffee is booming, but unlike the centralized auction system in its neighboring countries, farmers' cooperatives can buy and sell directly with buyers. After the practice of the 2007 Golden Bean Competition, Rwanda went on to hold the first COE competition in 2008. This has also drawn more buyers' attention to the high-quality bourbon beans produced in Rwanda. Now Luanda is the most advanced African country.

In the years leading up to serious ethnic conflicts in the 1990s, Rwanda exported 45000 tons of coffee beans, although exports have since slowly fallen to 25000 tons, only half that of Kenya and Tanzania. But it still accounts for about 1/3 of Luanda's export earnings. The 1994 genocide claimed nearly 500000 lives and almost wiped out the knowledge and technology of coffee bean planting. at the same time, the price of coffee beans around the world also fell sharply, making the coffee industry in Rwanda even worse. now the coffee industry in Rwanda is on the rise again, re-establishing the infrastructure needed for the production and processing of premium coffee beans at a steady pace. The most eye-catching is the Joint strengthening Luanda Agricultural Partnership Program (PEARL), which mainly helps Luanda rebuild agricultural institutions, production capacity and cultivate agricultural talent to help local small farms sell coffee beans directly to buyers in the boutique coffee market and make high profits.

Musasa Cooperative Musasha Group is the largest coffee company in Rwanda, with 1815 members distributed in the mountains of 1500m to 2000m in the north-west, all small farmers with less than 500 trees on an area of less than one hectare, began to set up their own washing plants in 2003, with the aim of improving the chances of selling their crops to international buyers and getting good prices. The Gatagara processing station, located between the towering and steep green valleys of 1800 meters, has about 175 people working at Gatagara during harvest time, with 19 regular workers handling beans from 20 farms, making it the sixth best treatment station in 2011.
