At the Mayan Bakery Cafe in Lane 485, Zhongzheng Road, Hsinchu City, the owner and his wife Matthew and Mia used to be engineers. After working for a few years, they decided to dream of opening a coffee shop and give up their well-paid jobs. Although the process was hard, Matthew said, "it's a taste of happiness."

After graduating from graduate school, Matthew went to work as a mechanical air-conditioning engineer in a technology company, while Maya, who studied chemical engineering, was a manufacturing engineer. Two people who struggled with the clean room every day were most interested in drinking their own coffee. Although they often shouted that they wanted to open a coffee shop, they didn't have the courage to do it.

A few years ago, Matthew resigned to take care of his mother's illness, and they finally had a chance to open a coffee shop. "from hawking, let the dream no longer be a slogan," Matthew told Mia. He really wanted to open a shop and be prepared to start from scratch. The two had their first experience on New year's Eve, pushing a coffee machine to set up a stall on Zhongzheng Road.

"I was really embarrassed at first, but from the moment I took the step out, I really felt that my dream was no longer out of reach." this stall received a good response, and it also made Matthew firm his idea of opening a store, looking for a storefront and asking working students to move forward step by step towards their goal.

The two people also applied their major to how to make good coffee, just like doing experiments in the laboratory, Matthew, who studied machinery, was responsible for temperature control, and Maya, who studied chemical engineering, was responsible for the proportion of coffee, brewing coffee, trying it, and improving it every day to find out the taste he wanted.

"there are voices of opposition all around us, and we will panic, but we still want to work hard. Matthew said that both parents were very opposed to quitting a stable job and opening a coffee shop. When the shop was first opened, the number of customers was unstable, and sometimes there were not even half a customer all day. Fortunately, after that period of low ebb, the rate of customer return was high, and the coffee shop was finally on track.
