Coffee Health knowledge can drinking more Coffee reduce the prevalence of Prostate Cancer?
As part of the Harvard University health follow-up study, Harvard scientists tracked 47911 men who regularly reported their coffee intake. The researchers found that men who drank more than six cups of coffee a day for 20 years were 20% less likely to develop prostate cancer than men who did not drink coffee.
More importantly, heavy coffee drinkers were 60 per cent less likely to develop fatal prostate cancer (lethal prostate cancer, which causes death or severe spread of cancer) than non-coffee drinkers. Even drinking only one or three cups of coffee a day reduced the risk of fatal prostate cancer by 30%. The study also found that the benefit of coffee had nothing to do with whether it was decaffeinated or not.
The report, published May 17 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (Journal of the National Cancer Institute), is the first to link coffee to a low risk of prostate cancer. Coffee is one of the main sources of our daily antioxidants, and other studies have suggested that drinking coffee may help reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Catherine M., the first author of the article. Kathryn M. Wilson said: we are not advising men to drink more coffee, but there is growing evidence that drinking more coffee may not have too many negative effects on them.
