Small-grain coffee has been grown in China for more than 100 years, but it has not been long since it became a commodity. In the late 1980s, the area was as high as 270000 mu, including 210000 mu in Hainan, 50, 000 mu in Yunnan and more than 10, 000 mu in Guangdong, and some were planted in Fujian. Later, as the price of coffee beans fell, the growers had to change the coffee to other crops. The acreage began to decline in 1991 and only 90,000 mu remained in 1995. Although China's consumption is not much, the national coffee consumption was only more than 2000 tons in the early 1980s, but reached 12000 tons in 1990. With the progress of China's coffee processing technology, the development of new products and the development of export trade, it is estimated that the consumption of coffee beans will be at least 15000 tons by the end of this century, and it is possible to double it to 30, 000 tons by 2010 compared with the end of the Ninth five-year Plan. There are 11.64 million mu of suitable planting land for coffee in China, of which only 90200 mu are planted at present, and there are still 11.37 million mu of suitable planting land, of which 5.56 million mu of the first and second categories are suitable for development and utilization with great potential. In 1995, the country's total output was only 3291 tons, including 581 tons in Hainan Province, 2605 tons in Yunnan and 105 tons in Guangdong. For this reason, the Chinese government strives to achieve a coffee planting area of 150000 mu and an output of more than 6000 tons at the end of the Ninth five-year Plan. In 2010, the area reached 20-300000 mu, with a total output of 1.2-15000 tons.

The areas where coffee is grown in our province are mainly state-owned farms and some farmers in Zhanjiang area. The development trend is the same as that of the whole country, but because the technology is carried out well, the yield level is relatively high, and there are certain economic benefits. On the other hand, the farmers in each household, coupled with the poor land selection and technical management, have a low level of output and poor economic benefits. If we want to develop well, only by attaching importance to science and technology and conscientiously implementing technical measures, the development prospect of coffee is still considerable! Good luck!
