Introduction to the Malaba coffee producing area in Rwanda
The inspiration story for the new limited edition premium coffee dates back more than 300 years, when coffee beans grown in South India were loaded onto British East India Company wooden sailboats and shipped to Europe. The unique humidity and tropical sea breezes swell the coffee beans on a six-month voyage around the Cape of Good Hope at the southwestern tip of Africa, giving the beans an extraordinary aroma and a special soft texture. In 1869, the opening of the Suez Canal shortened the transit time of coffee beans, but it lost the signature flavor of Indian coffee.
