Heat is a conditional selective contact herbicide containing pyrimidine diketone active substance-benzenesulfonamide. Benzenesulfonate is registered under the brand name Kirox all over the world. It is a flexible active molecule in terms of application time. It can be used before sowing, directly spraying to wither the weeds without touching the crops.

BASF said the herbicide has different mechanisms and can manage the resistance of weeds to herbicides on the market. "Heat herbicides can also increase the benefits of mechanical operation, simplify and optimize the harvest process, and increase coffee production per hectare."

From October to April every year, there are many common and highest incidence weeds in coffee, such as Conyza bonariensis, sweet potato (Ipomoea sp.) And tropical Tradescantia (Commelina benghalensis). "improper weed management during this period will affect coffee production." Carulina Oliveira, marketing manager for citrus, coffee and peanuts at BASF, stressed.

BASF recently announced that its herbicide Heat has been registered for use in coffee crops in Brazil after it was widely used to control weeds in sugar cane, corn and soybean fields in Brazil.
