Coffee grinder manufacturer Mahlkonig has responded to this year's hot demand by showcasing a variety of new designs at the recent HOST Milano show.
The K30 product line, which includes the K30 and K30 Twin, has been updated via a touch screen interface. At the same time, the ubiquitous EK43 became a smaller EK43 S. The S grinder is only 68 cm tall, much shorter than the 77 cm classic EK43. And, its smaller, 800-gram capacity funnel, which aims to cut a profile more suited to small strips than its towering bulk-type predecessors.

These things are often paired from Mahlkonig. Two years ago HOST in Milan launched the EK43 coffee machine and the Peak grinder. This year, the digital precision and convenience of the Peak and Twin Peak touch screen interfaces have largely been ported to the new K30 2.0 product line, while the EK43 continues to cater to its single-cup grinding reputation in a friendlier form.
The K30 2.0, K30 Twin 2.0 and K30 Twin Hybrid 2.0 all include multi-touch displays that allow users to adjust grinding settings, set grinding timers or connect the grinder to the Internet of Things via WiFi or Bluetooth. Hoppers of various size are available, just as portafilter holders tilt to fit existing machine options.

The EK43 S will start shipping to buyers in Europe in January 2018 for € 2250 ($2642). The K30 2.0 line, priced from € 2590 to € 3690, will be shipped to Asia and the United States in April 2018. In both cases, other areas will be processed on demand first until the mid-year allotment.
