About:

The Sert ã o estate is owned by the Sert ã o group, a family business with a history of more than 100 years in the production and commercialization of high-quality coffee. The Sert ã o estate, located in Carmo de Minas, in the state of Minas Gerais, South of Brazil, is inherited by Jos é Isidro Pereira and Nazareth Dias Pereira and is now managed by their sons and in-laws. The area is famous for its mineral water, the perfect combination of latitude and altitude, mountain topography, clear seasons and fertile soil.

The favorable climate and growth conditions discovered by South Minas led to the expansion of the company's coffee program. Sert ã o now has a large area to grow coffee and continues to develop the infrastructure to produce a variety of high-quality Arabica coffee for the domestic and international markets.

In addition to coffee production, the Sert ã o group has successfully started breeding and selling Girolando cattle in recent years, as well as growing and selling corn and soybeans. The company uses high-quality technical assistance in each of its areas of activity to ensure the quality of its products.

The Sert ã o group has around 135 families residing at the site throughout the year. These families form the core of the Sert ã o permanent team and provide free housing for quality, tap water, electricity, milk, coffee and fruit. In addition, there are on-site schools, fully qualified primary and secondary school teachers, on-site medical and dental care, football fields and leisure fishing ponds.

In order to ensure and promote environmentally sustainable practices, a number of programmes have been implemented to protect springs and water sources, wildlife, forests and other vegetation, and soil. All water used in the sink and pulper is recycled and the residue is transferred to the sedimentation tank to avoid overuse of water and pollution of the surrounding environment. The outer skin of pulped coffee is rich in nutrients and is used as fertilizer and organic matter in coffee fields.
