Corner Farm produces Brazilian specialty coffee. Machado (MACHADO) is one of the main producers of specialty coffee. Since 1896, Corner Farm has produced and maintained the tradition of specialty coffee. The Magellan family hopes to combine traditional and modern cultivation to provide his consumers with the best coffee. Since 2006, Rainforest Alliance certification has been obtained to ensure the sustainability of production and to comply with the provisions of the Alliance and respect for labour rights and environmental legislation.
History of Corner Farm
The first official record of growing coffee in Machado was in 1874, and as for Corner Farm-historical documents show that coffee cultivation has been economically valuable since 1896.
The farm has belonged to the Magalhaes family since 1985. Maria Selma and Afranio, owners of the fourth generation of family members on the corner farm, continue to be faithful to the tradition of producing specialty coffee. The couple take good care of the farm and seek to modernize agricultural technology and respect traditions, learn new planting techniques and build new equipment, improve the quality of coffee and maintain the traditional structure of the old farm.
Because of its fertile land, Corner Farm was used to grow coffee, and after the coffee crisis of 1930, Machado began to focus on producing fine coffee, introducing the expertise of Machado's BANCO Minero affiliated Experimental Farm (present-day EPAMIG). At the end of 1985, Maria Selma Magalhaes Paiva, an agronomist, married the same professional Afranio Jose Ferreira Paiva. Ten years later, with their father's death, they all became the owners of the farm, and they had been trying to take care of the farm, always trying to combine respect for tradition with the modernization of agriculture, except to maintain and strengthen the dairy herd. Supported by technological innovation and the protection of their ancestral heritage, Maria Selma and Afranio look forward to passing it on to the next generation, making the farm not only profitable, but also assisting coffee farms in the Machado area to promote coffee refinement.
Since 1896, Corner Farm has produced excellent coffee commodities, but most importantly, always ensure that tradition is maintained, especially with high-quality special coffee. The Magalhaes series ensures that such an ancient coffee tradition is combined with modern technology for its own self-cultivation, thus providing only the best coffee to its consumers.
The farm retains the area of primary forests and strengthens the maintenance of primitive forests, which is conducive to the ecological balance of animals and plants, reduces the use of chemicals and increases biological diversity. Since 2006, farms have been certified by the Rainforest Alliance and promoted sustainable agro-ecology and demonstrated 100% compliance with labour rights and local environmental regulations.
