The Kokona processing Plant (Kokanna) is located 60 kilometers south of Yirgacheffe and is about an hour's drive. It belongs to the town of Gedeb on the Gedeo district in southern Ethiopia. It is a famous coffee and bean producing area in Ethiopia. Kokanna means "pear" in the local language. Small coffee farmers nearby send the red cherry fruits harvested directly to this treatment plant for sale. on average, these small coffee farmers cultivate an area of less than 2 hectares at an altitude of about 1900 to 2100 meters. The coffee varieties are mainly local endemic Heirloom (local native species). The Kokona treatment plant has 80 tanning African beds because the temperature at high altitude is (15-25 ℃) and it takes a long time to dry after washing.
