Rwanda Nima Shek Nyamasheke round beans
Nyamasheke, a province in western Rwanda near the famous Lake Lake Kivu, is famous for its rich, complex and sweet coffee. Raw bean merchant Nordic Approach has invested a lot of effort in Nimasek over the past few years, conducting many experiments with local coffee farmers, and this batch is the result of the experiment.
Nordic Approach cooperates with the local shelling field to pick out round beans and make special batches (Peaberry). Round beans are cherries that grow with only one seed instead of two, usually accounting for only 10% or less of the total yield. There is no special charm of round beans in Rwanda. Washing plants do not separate round beans, but in some other countries, such as Kenya, round beans are highly respected. Nordic Approach collects their round beans from the top coffee farmers in the west of Nimasek to see if they can produce a special flavor!
According to the flavor characteristics and treatment methods of these round beans, different washing plants in Nimasek area were selected and harvested at different times (this batch is from May to July), and mixed into round bean batches. As a result, the round bean batch 28 was blindly tested. It is amazing that the flavor performance of the round bean batch is more outstanding than that of the washing factory alone. Nimashek has some very outstanding washing plants, such as Mahembe, and Chillingbi is the latest one.
The coffee farmers' land near Lake Nima Shekchevu is very small, mostly between 1700 and 2000 meters above sea level. After it is sent to different washing plants, the pulp is peeled and carried out by dry fermentation, and then it is sent into a running ditch for grading, cleaning and soaking, which is very similar to Kenyan washing.
Rwanda is blessed with an ideal coffee growing environment, including high altitude, stable rainfall, volcanic soil and organic environment, while beans are very prosperous bourbon. The vast majority of coffee in Rwanda is produced by small farmers, with about 500000 farmers, and individual farmers own less than one hectare of farmland. Although Rwanda has a long history of coffee production, the quality has not improved significantly until recently, with different climate, soil and growing conditions in different producing areas.
Rwanda, known as the "country of a thousand mountains", is one of the most interesting coffee in Africa in the eyes of many people. The best Rwandan coffee can have a clean and bright flavor from Central and South America, a better balance than Kenya, attractive fruit sweetness, even floral aromas, and a tea-like finish. Over the years, of all African countries, only Rwanda has hosted the extraordinary Cup (Cup of Excellence).
Summer is coming, and this vibrant and refreshing flavor of lemon juice will bring a fresh start. The sweet and elegant taste of this coffee is delicious in any way!
