The Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy is a must for tourists, and many people will sit down and drink coffee and enjoy leisurely afternoons. But for Juan Carlos Bustamente, a Chilean tourist, his experience is not very pleasant because of the high fees charged by coffee shops.

Bustamante last Wednesday (1st) 06:30 in the evening, patronized San Marco Square, a coffee shop named Caffe Lavena, and enjoy coffee in the seats outside the square. According to his public receipt, he ordered two cups of espresso and two cups of mineral water, but the unit price of each cup of coffee and mineral water was 11.5 euros and 10 euros (about 90 yuan and 78 yuan) respectively, in other words, the total amount was as high as 43 euros (about 336 yuan). If you order the same cup of coffee at the bar, the amount is only 1.25 euros (about 10 yuan).

Bustamante caused a heated discussion after sharing the incident on social networking sites, with some netizens denouncing the coffee shop as a robbery. However, the coffee shop responded afterwards, saying that it had been printed on the menu that "if customers intend to sit outside the square, they will have to pay extra". It is also said that in the past, many customers have complained unjustifiably because they did not listen carefully to the points raised by the waiter.

The coffee shop stressed that since sitting outside the square can enjoy completely different views, such as the famous St. Mark's Cathedral, clock tower and street orchestral performances, it is reasonable for these customers to pay a higher amount of money to enjoy the service than the bar.
