Appreciation of Italian espresso Espresso
The Beauty of Espresso, the Soul of Coffee: Espresso
Espresso is known as the "soul of coffee". With a perfect cup of Espresso, we can make all kinds of coffee like Cappuccino, Mocha and Latte. It is said that Espresso originated in Cairo, Egypt in the early 15th century, but it was Italy that really made it flourish, and now Espresso has almost become a symbol of Italy.
How to identify Espresso
1. Look at the amount
The standard amount for a perfect Single Espresso is one ounce of coffee essence extracted in 25 seconds.
2. Look at the appearance
The most important sign of a good Espresso is the light tan Crema, which is a blend of fat, water and air from the coffee during the extraction process. Crema should be evenly colored and about 3 cm to 5 cm thick. Shake the coffee cup gently and the emulsion will stick to the wall like thick syrup. The perfect Crema should be at least 4 cm thick, and it can't be blown lightly. When done correctly, if Crema turns golden or even white, it means the beans have been aged too long and expired. Observing Crema floating on the surface can also judge the operation of making Espresso, if the color is slightly yellow, white, the amount is small, the coffee flows out too fast, which indicates that the extraction pressure is too small, the extraction is insufficient, and finer grinding, tighter and more uniform packing is needed to increase the resistance of the coffee cake. If Crema is dark brown or even black, the flow is incoherent or even dripping, which indicates that the extraction resistance is too large, the pressure is too large, the extraction transition is insufficient for the whole coffee cake, and the powder is too fine, too tight, and too much.
3, smell
The perfect Espresso should have a pleasant aroma and definitely not a burnt smell. If there is a burnt smell, then unfortunately, you are drinking a cup of over-extracted Espresso.
How to taste Espresso
Espresso is the strongest coffee in the world, and you need a glass of water to polish your mouth before you taste it. The basic tasting method is to smell first, Espresso aroma is strong and charming, should be a good immersion. Then there is the taste, Espresso has a variety of genres, of course, according to personal preferences to set. Basically divided into two kinds, one is a mouthful and finish, one is a little sip first drink, and then drink. Every taste and feel is different. Basically, what you can taste in one bite is the comprehensive taste of Espresso, while if you drink it in batches, you can taste the layering of Espresso taste. If you're drinking a perfect Espresso, you'll notice a distinct and ostentatious difference from any other coffee you've ever had. Perfect Espresso gives your mouth a lasting 20-30 minutes of sweetness after drinking.
