Geisha coffee beans can be said to be the most famous and expensive variety of coffee beans in recent years! This origin can be traced back to Panamanian boutique coffee. Before 2004, Panamanian boutique coffee was not valued by the international coffee industry. However, after 2004, "Geisha Coffee" was discovered and became famous. Repeatedly won the Panamanian national treasure bean cup test, all the way to 2007.
Then why didn't you dominate after 2008? Because the flavor of geisha coffee beans is really strong over other varieties, so independent to hold their own competition!
Geisha coffee beans come from Ethiopia
Although geisha coffee beans have flourished in Panama, after being monitored by experts, the variety of geisha coffee beans actually comes from Ethiopia's coffee gene treasure trove, the Kafa Forest, or Gesha Moutain in southwestern Ethiopia, at an altitude of about 1700 to 2100 meters.
It turned out that at that time, geisha was regarded as a kind of coffee bean with strong disease resistance, so it was used to "mix" with other coffee trees to improve the disease resistance of other coffee trees, but the yield of geisha coffee beans was too low. and the flavor is not recorded (note: the author guesses that the environmental flavor in Panama may be better), so it was completely lost for a long time and was not discovered until recently.
Geisha coffee beans are famous.
Geisha coffee beans were actually found in Jhala Miyou Manor, but before talking about this manor, we have to mention the Peterson family. The estate owned by the Peterson family at the beginning is actually the now familiar "Emerald Manor". In 1996, the Peterson family was optimistic about the landscape environment and coffee quality of the Jalami manor, so they bought the whole manor!
The coffee at Jalami Manor tastes very different from Panamanian coffee, with a hint of orange, flowers and fruits, but the Peterson family has not been sure which coffee tree breeds this flavor. therefore, the Peterson family tested the coffee trees in the manor one by one and found that the coffee tree used by the previous owner as a windbreak tree was actually a coffee tree with a unique flavor. As a result, the coffee in the area was immediately independent and took part in the cup test competition in 2004. it was a blockbuster and let everyone know about geisha coffee!
Geisha coffee is grown in all countries. How to choose it?
Because the flavor of geisha coffee varieties is loved by many people, it has strong aromas of citrus, jasmine, almonds and mangoes, and sweet nectar, with bright and changeable acidity, which makes coffee countries compete to grow them.
But even if it is the same coffee variety, in different coffee growing environment, the flavor can be very different!
The unique climate, planting altitude, humidity, sunshine length, soil, growers, and even the whole process after picking coffee fruits in each region will seriously affect the flavor of coffee! There are obvious differences in coffee flavors among geisha in Panama, Colombia, Ethiopia and other places.
