Nicaragua is a famous coffee producing area. Coffee lovers traveling to Nicaragua must visit Matagalpa, a major coffee province. Among them, Selva Negra, a coffee farm with a long history, has been highly praised in recent years and produces its own organic shade coffee brand "Nicaragua Selva Negra."

In the second half of the 19th century, the Nigerian government, in order to promote the development of the north,

Open arms to European youth and provide land for coffee cultivation;

About 35 German families migrated to this cool, scenic spot,

Many came alone and married beautiful Nicaragua girls.

Working together to make coffee smell in the air,

It was named because it was beautiful like the Black Forest in their hometown.

Selva Negra means "Black Forest" in Spanish, named after the Bavarian Black Forest region in southern Germany. In the 19th century, German immigrants from their homeland came to Nicaragua to cultivate and set up the first coffee farm in Matagalpa Province.

Selva Negra was originally a coffee farm "La Hammonia", which was bought and renamed by Eddy and Mausi, the German-born Kühl family, in 1975. With the concept of "nature symbiosis", Selva Negra built ecological hostels, restored forests, introduced organic sustainable production models, increased agricultural diversity and expanded year by year.

Today, Selva Negra has a large forest area and many bird-watching trails in addition to the main coffee gardens and farms. The restaurant "Ruta de café" produces delicious dishes combining Nigerian and German flavors with its own fruits and vegetables, home-made meat, dairy products and home-made coffee sauces, and provides visitors with a taste of the Nigerian land "Tastefully Nicaragua".

Selva Negra coffee is 100% Arabica and is subdivided into five different flavors: kadura, bourbon, kadim, kaduai and malagojpe.

Every year coffee production season from November to February of the following year, by the manual picking of coffee fruit, followed by cleaning, machine to remove coffee peel, the first fermentation to remove pulp, the second fermentation to remove pods, drying, manual selection of beans and other processes, there are as many as 42 procedures.

Green beans with white coating are packaged into 65 kg sacks ready for export to the Pacific coast port in the United States, while green beans with coating removed are used as raw materials for their own brand coffee, certified by Rainforest Alliance, and supplied to Whole Food, the top organic food supermarket in the United States.
