Do we often see the slogan "We choose 100% Arabica coffee beans" when we drink coffee in a cafe, or when we buy coffee beans in a certain treasure, or even on the menu of some fast food chains? So, is Arabica better or Manning better? What kind of coffee does Manning belong to? Let's take a look at what Arabica and Manning are, and what are the secrets between them? What kind of coffee does Manning belong to?

First! In fact, no one knows, and no one wants to know what Arabica is, okay!

Merchants are good at creating a psychological feeling conducive to sales with some specious concepts, which are full of routines.

In order to create a psychological feeling that is easy to pretend, let's talk about "100% Arabica coffee beans".

"100% Arabica", the store owner is not deceiving you, but to a large extent, he is deceiving you. At the very least, he's messing with you-if there's only a vague slogan like "100% Arabica".

The merchant did not lie to you because he did choose 100% Arabica beans, and Arabica beans are indeed the best quality coffee beans in the world. If Arabica is the champion of the coffee bean world, then the runner-up is a kind of coffee bean called Robusta, but I need to remind you that at this time, Arabica and Robusta are the only two contestants on the track, that is to say, the coffee you can drink on the market is either Arabica or Robusta. Of course, in theory, there is also a contestant named Liberia, but Liberia is so Buddhist that it has basically never appeared on the runway, so let's just pretend he doesn't exist.

Since Arabica is a veritable world champion, why do you say that the merchants are fooling you?

First of all, Arabica accounts for about 70% of the world's supply, while Robusta accounts for only about 30%. Although this is not an exact figure, the deviation will not be large enough to change the overall ratio. The point is, Robusta basically doesn't drink coffee directly, so what does Robusta do with it? At present, most of them make "delicious" instant coffee.

What does that mean? In other words, as long as you don't buy three-in-one instant coffee or coffee drinks in the supermarket freezer, 95% of the freshly ground coffee you drink is Arabica. In other words, you are much more likely to drink coffee to Arabica than to Robusta. Then what else would you drink to Robusta? That's when you drink Italian concentrate. Some high-quality robusta are mixed with Arabica beans to make Italian concentrate to increase the caffeine, alcohol thickness and greasy feeling of espresso, which is what the industry calls "Italian blending". Generally speaking, robusta accounts for only 10% and 15% of the mixed beans, and more than this proportion will have a greater impact on the flavor of coffee. Of course, Italian matching is not always Arabica puzzle Busta, whether it is out of taste or the pure pursuit of Arabica, now many cafes also use different kinds of Arabica beans for matching.

Secondly, Arabica is only a primary bean species, the Arabica bean family has many branches, and there are many natural or artificial hybrid varieties (we'll talk about the Arabica family beans later), and these different branches, different countries, different producing areas, different elevations, different batches of Arabica beans vary greatly in quality and price. Thousands of dollars a pound of Geisha and a few pounds of ordinary commercial beans are Arabica. Just like "our steak is 100% imported beef", you do not know the quality of the steak, so much imported beef, and cattle or Angus cattle? Is it Angus in the United States or Angus in Australia? Is it grass feeding or grain feeding? These are not clear, how do you know what kind of "imported" beef you are eating? And do not think that imports are good, poor quality of imported beef is not even better than good quality local beef.

Generally speaking, Arabica is famous for its good quality, rich aroma, unique flavor and rich variety, but it is difficult to grow, while Robusta is famous for its low cost, low quality and easy to grow, and its aroma and taste are far inferior to Arabica. If one day you see an advertisement like this, and our store chooses 100% world runner-up RoboTadou, don't think you have the second best coffee in the world, but in fact you may just have a bad cup of coffee.

A coffee bean label with clear information should at least list the country of origin, production area, bean species, picking period, raw bean processing technology and other information, and generally clearly list the baking degree, baking date and other information for the drinker to know at a glance.

There is no mention of Arabica on the above label, but the country of origin information and bean seed yellow Dukai are enough to show that this is a high-quality Arabica bean. For example, when a person says that he is from Guangzhou, he does not need to emphasize and we can clearly know that he is a "Chinese".

It should be emphasized that the above is only a generalization. Arabica and Robusta are not only good beans and poor beans. Some very high-quality coffee beans are mixed varieties of Arabica and Robusta. For example, some varieties of Manning. At the same time, with the continuous development of the coffee growing industry, Robusta has also developed some high-quality varieties that can be used for direct drinking.

Manning Coffee is very popular in China, and it is almost the most popular coffee bean in single coffee. In the minds of many people, Manning coffee is almost equivalent to Sumatran coffee or even Indonesian coffee.

Manning's name comes from a misunderstanding.

But when it comes to the name Mantenin, it is different from other coffee beans, which are usually named after the producing area. It is neither the name of the producing area, nor the name of the port, nor the name of the coffee breed. It is the phonetic mispronunciation of the Indonesian "mandheling" people. During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia during World War II, a Japanese soldier drank mellow coffee in a cafe, so he asked the owner the name of the coffee. The boss mistakenly thought he was asking where you were from, so he replied, "mandheling". After the war, the Japanese soldiers recalled the "manning" they had drunk in Indonesia. As a result, 15 tons of Indonesian coffee was transported to Japan, which was very popular. That's how Manning's name came out.

What does Manning drink like?

Manning is usually tasted as a single coffee, but it is also an important element in blended coffee. The "Mann" in the "Mamba flavor" we say refers to Manning, which is a very classic way of blending. When drinking mantenin, you can feel its mellow and solid taste, herbal flavor, pleasant sour taste, strong sweetness, mellow smell, moderate acidity, rich sweetness, and very intriguing. Manning is also a bean suitable for deep baking, which emits a strong fragrance and is called a gentleman in coffee.

Where did Manning come from?

Mantenin is made in Indonesia, but not all Indonesian coffee beans are called Mantenin.

In the 17th century, the Dutch brought Arabica coffee seedlings to Sri Lanka and Indonesia for the first time, but in Indonesia in 1877, a large-scale coffee rust destroyed almost all coffee trees, and people had to give up the Arabica species that had been in operation for many years and introduce the more disease-resistant robusta species from Africa. Today, Indonesia is a big coffee producer, producing coffee in Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi, but Robusta accounts for 90% of the total coffee bean production.

Sumatra is only a small part of the whole coffee map.

Sumatra is on the westernmost side of the Indonesian section.

Only the best Arabica coffee beans produced in Sumatra will be named Lintong or Manning, which are the best coffee beans grown in the highlands and mountains above sea level 750-1500 meters above sea level. Among them, Mantenin, produced in the Gayo of Aceh province, the northernmost province of Sumatra, usually belongs to the manor grade, using the traditional wet planing method, compared to the coffee beans in Lindong, Mantenin or the more eastern region of Sumatra, the coffee in the younger mountains is often brighter and tastes richer with famous estates such as Takengon and Sidikalang.

Because of its irreplaceable mellow taste, UCC Ujima Coffee, the largest coffee company in Japan, partnered with PT Gunung Lintong, a famous coffee maker in Sumatra, to operate their first coffee plantation in Asia in 1995, which shows how important Mantenin is in the coffee field.

What is golden manning?

Mantenin is the boutique of Indonesian coffee, while gold manning is the best boutique of Mantenin. Gold Mantning is a full-grained, brightly colored Mantenin coffee carefully selected by hand. The size of raw beans is basically more than 19 mesh. It is absolutely a stunning beauty in coffee. In fact, in order to improve the problem of high defective beans in Mantenin, the Japanese began to use carefully selected quality control a long time ago, after four manual selection to remove defective beans. Unfortunately, "Golden Mandheling", that is, gold manning, was registered as a trademark by the Indonesian coffee company Pawani, and gold manning became the exclusive property of PWN.

Where on earth is Golden Manning higher than G1?

The grading system of Indonesian beans is classified according to the defect rate, which is also the earliest classification method. The identification method is to randomly take 300 grams of samples and put them on black paper, because black paper can best avoid reflection. Then, examined carefully by the professional appraiser, find out the defective beans in the sample, and accumulate different scores according to the types of defects. Coffee beans in Indonesia are mainly divided into six grades according to the defect rate, namely Gr1~Gr6, of which G1 is the highest.

On the other hand, Golden Manning has gone through several rounds of strict hand selection, which is better than G1 in terms of shape and size. ordinary people may not be able to drink the difference between the two, but for professional coffee diners and people with a sensitive sense of taste, if you drink these two types of coffee at the same time, the result will be very obvious. Gold Mantenin's sweetness and cleanliness, mellow, wild spice flavor are slightly better than G1. This is one of the reasons why Huang Man is much more expensive than the G1. Compared with Lin Dong's Mantenin, Golden Mantenin tastes cleaner. The original herbal, earthy and woody flavors are almost gone, but the sweet aroma of caramel is stronger and the fruit acidity is brighter and more elegant.

Some people say that Manning is thick and strong, others say that Manning is gentle and easygoing. Manning has always expressed its most unique sweetness with the most unique bitterness, just like the joys and sorrows of life. No matter how much sugar you put in, you can't hide the bitterness. When you first tasted it, it was amazing. But the charming aroma makes us uncontrollable and infatuated with it. Its bitterness is like thorns on the edge of flowers, making people aware of it, but its fragrance is refreshing. Instead of upsetting you, Manning's suffering will make you feel more awake. Before you encounter real pain, Manning is just an ordinary bitter drink, a refreshing liquid, a tool to slow you down, and when you really encounter pain, it will smile and tell you, "because love is bitter." Let you calm down and taste it carefully.

The riddle of Manning's varieties

The name of the coffee variety in Sumatra may be a little difficult to understand. Most of Arabica's seeds should have originally come from the Tibica strain of Yemen. In Sumatra, this type of coffee is mostly called DjemberTypica, but it should be noted that Djember is also the name of a completely different variety found on the island of Sulawesi. It is common here that different varieties have crossed with Robusta at different times, the most famous of which is Hybrido de Timor, the mother species of the more common Cartimo variety. In Sumatra, this variety is also known as TimTim.

The vast majority of coffee grown in Indonesia can be collectively referred to as Mantenin, just like most varieties in Ethiopia are named heirlooms (original species).

After reading the above, do you understand? Is Arabica better or Manning better? This is a question with no standard answer, because the name does not represent quality and strength at all, and the specific advantages and disadvantages still depend on the actual comparison. Manning's coffee varieties include Arabica and non-Arabica, so ah, don't easily believe the merchant's "100% Arabica", it's a piece of nonsense.
